Team bonding activities are a great way to encourage close, trusting relationships between employees and groups. In order for businesses to run smoothly and efficiently they must be built upon conflict free employee relationships. Awkward situations can arise when new employees are introduced into existing groups. As a manager or interested employee, you can advise your colleagues of ice breakers that can assist in welcoming new comers into the team.
Corporate team building activities can be brainstormed during meetings and should include every member of the team. These team building ideas are essential for beginning a strong family atmosphere with everyone. The teammates will begin to bond while they are planning the ideas themselves. If planning a sports team, it is important to allow the members to decide on the colors. Also it should become a priority to encourage rival or competitive businesses to create a team of their own; this way the members will have a contender. By the time the team is in place and a game scheduled, your team would have bonded with each other during the planning process. Their effort in planning the event will make them protective towards their accomplishment, and they will strive harder to will the game.
Other team bonding activities can include weekly potlucks, and yearly gatherings. Both of these can introduce your team’s family members into the group. It has been proven that wives and husbands, that bond with their partner’s colleagues, are more likely to understand the workload and reduce late night arguments. The partners of the teammates can trade recipes and plan play dates. Before you know it you will have a network of extended family and your office environment will function better.
Not every co-worker will be acceptant of extracurricular activities and groupings. It is important to acknowledge their disapproval and not push them to join. The more comfortable they feel the better their work will produce. Remember they have lives outside of work and may not be interested in compromising their personal time for business play. This is okay; an office will need several just-business players in the mix. This will ensure office behavior stays in place and work continues to flow. Office appropriate behavior during work hours should always be addressed during meetings. Team bonding activities are good for small businesses as well as large corporations.
